Edward Laura is the son of William Laura and Betsey Fay.

On October 30, 1895, at the age of 27, and a farmer,
he married Mary Baker. Together they had 2 children: Dewey and Evelyn. They later divorced.

On November 21, 1921, at age 53, he married Anna (nee Gauss) Pelton., who was 46.

He lived, and farmed, in Carleton, Monroe County, Michigan his entire life. That is also where he died at age 65.
