About Edward Killick Roberts

As a young man, he followed those Mormons led Brigham Young. He left behind all those he had cherished, never to see them again. Many trials were to come his way as brave men faced a new frontier. These Men and women turned a desert into a rose and established a Kingdom in the tops of the Rockies. Edward Killick Roberts with great faith built his own empire. He faced down Johnson’ Army, assisted family coming across the plains, was a Black Hawk War veteran, was a Presiding Elder, tamed a river, was a farmer and timberman, raised three families; and sank his roots deep by founding a community. Annabella bears the name of his wife. (Anna Rollins Beckstead Roberts) All three families contributed to its history. Hannah Gleave Roberts is the communities founding mother as her children became the backbone of the community. These chosen few were the real heroes and the real pioneers of the West.
