About Edward Robins
Edward was born on 3 November 1602 at Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, England.1
Edward came to Virginia in the bark Thomas, Henry Taverner, Mr. in 1635. He settled on the Eastern Shore, where he built "Newport House," now called "Eyreville." At his death it was sold to Colonel William Kendall, in whose family it remained for many generations. He was a merchant. He was a member of the Virginia Company in 1620.
Edward died before 11 January 1640/41 at Northampton Co, NC. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Edward Robins, merchant, was granted to Obedience Robins. A certificate was granted to the orphans of Mr. Edward Robins for transportation of Edward Robins, Thomas Joyner, Olliver, Lawrence Glanfeild, Nicholas Raynehard, Abraham Boothes, and Anthony James. Richard Robins, Gentleman, of Longuckbbye in the County of Northampton claimed to be the brother of Edward Robins, dec'd, of Virginia and of Obedience Robins, and gave power of attorney to his sister-in-law Jane Puddington (wife of George in Virginia).
Although he left "orphans", only two daughters, Rachel Beard (Robins) and Elizabeth Burgess (Robins), have been specifically identified.
