From: Find a Grave Created by: Stella Record added: Jun 25, 2014 Find A Grave Memorial# 131853202
Edward Rogers was born in 1563 in Cannington, Somerset, England. He was the son of Sir (Knight) Thomas George Rogers (1541-1587) and Joan (Winter) Rogers (1545-1634).
Edward married Catherine Popham (1559-1608) in St Dunstan in The West, London, England on Jan. 3, 1585. Edward was 21 years old, and Catherine was 25. Catherine was the daughter of Sir John Popham (1531-1607) and Amy (Games) Popham (1522-1604).
Edward and Catherine Rogers were the parents of the following known children: Francis, Amy, Ann, George, Edward, Henry, Elinor, Jane, Mary and Penelope Rogers.
Edward Rogers, Esq. was allied through his wife's sisters to the Champernowns, Horners, Warres and the Malletts of Enmore. Through his father-in-law, he became involved in the attempt to colonize Munster, Ireland. Popham had been authorized to interest the gentlemen of the west country in the enterprise and three of his sons-in-law were among the undertakers. In June 1586, 19 seigneuries in Cork were granted to the Somerset undertakers, among whom Rogers was numbered. During the remainder of 1586 and in 1587 he was active in Irish affairs, making arrangements for defense and for the apportionment of land. By the end of 1587, however, he was disillusioned with the Munster project, finally, with many others of the original undertakers, abandoning it by March 1588. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Rogers-9160
