Edward Serr, age 91, of Bismarck, North Dakota, formerly of Elgin, North Dakota, passed away at 1:20 PM CT, on February 21, 2006 at St. Vincent's Care Center at Bismarck, North Dakota. Burial in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at Glen Ullin.
Edward was born April 17, 1914 south of Glen Ullin, North Dakota to Christian and Elizabeth (Fehr) Serr.
He lived on a farm nine miles northeast of Elgin, North Dakota, with his parents until 1919. They then moved to Hebron, North Dakota, were his father had a shoe and harness shop until 1925 when they moved their shop to Glen Ullin. Then in 1928 they moved the shoe and harness shop to Elgin.
Edward married Emelia Weinberger in 1936 at Carson, North Dakota. They were the parents of one son Themar Gene. They lived on a farm near St. Joseph south of Glen Ullin, North Dakota, until 1947 when they moved to Carson where Ed worked in a bar until 1952. In the fall of 1952 they moved to Glen Ullin where he worked for Vic's Mobil Service. Emelia passed away in 1971.
In 1972 Edward married Emma (Meidinger) Reiman at the Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin. Ed and Emma both worked at Jacobson Memorial Hospital until their retirement. Emma passed away on April 21, 2002 and then in May of 2002, Ed moved to Bismarck where he resided at St. Vincent’s Care Center.
Ed loved to go fishing and was a competitive aggravation player. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin where he served on the church council at various times, he enjoyed serving as a deacon in the church.
Ed is survived by one son Themar Gene Serr of Tacoma, Washington, 4 grandchildren, one sister, Alvina Weishahn of El Sobrante, California and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives, one brother Jacob, two sisters Esther Fliehmann and Adaline Grant.
