Edward W. Shultz, 79, longtime Xenia resident, died unexpectedly 3:25 a.m. today at Greene Memorial Hospital after suffering a sudden attack at his home, 292 N. Detroit St. For 53 years he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring in 1955 as a conductor. The son of Mr. and Mrs. James Shultz, he was born in Champaign County November 14, 1885, and had resided in Xenia most of his life. He was a member of Xenia Lodge No. 49, F&AM and the Brotherhood of Railway Conductors.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Kathleen Ball Shultz whom he married May 10, 1910; a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Eleanor) Manor of Xenia; two sons Edwin W. of Knollwood and Ralph Q. Shultz of Dayton; a sister Hester of Ogden, Utah; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, four sisters and a brother.
Rev. Robert Zweitzig of the Xenia EUB Church will conduct services Monday at 1 p.m. at the Neeld Funeral Home, 106 W. Marker St., where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
