About Edward Tuttle

Edward Tuttle was born about 1651 in Boston, Massachusetts. He died on 30 Jan 1730. Edward was one of the original signers of the church covenant at Rumney Marsh, but became dissatisfied and returned to the Lynn Church, where he had previously worshipped. He divided his farm among his sons, Edward, Nathaniel, and Ruhama, the widow of his son John, by deeds of gift, dated July 6, 1719. Ruhama received her share for life, with the provision that it should pass to her children, John and Abigail upon her death. Her share consisted of 6 acres of upland and 3 acres 29 poles of swamp adjoining to the upland - both at the south part of Edward's farm. Parents: John Tuttle and Mary Holyoke.

Simon (Symon) TUTTELL OR TOOTILL-3 (Richard-2, Thomas-1) was born about 1560 in Of Ringstead, Northamptonshire, ENG. He died 15/30 Jun 1630 in Ringstead, Northampton ENG. Simon married Isabel WELLS about 1592 in Ringstead, Northampton ENG.Symon was mentioned in his father's will in 1589 and that of his father-in-law in 1618. The will of John Wells also named all four of his Tuttell grandsons. Symon was supervisor of the will of Matthew Harris of Woodford, 5 Nov 1600. His own will was proved 1630 at Northampton MA. His widow Isabel accompanied her sons to America on the barque PLANTER in 1635, but no record of her has been seen in this country, so probably she did not long survive.Isabel WELLS was born 1565 in Of Ringstead, Northamptonshire, ENG. She died Abt May/June 1635. She died at sea on the ship, PLANTER or shortly after arriving in Boston, MA

The small barque PLANTER, captained by Nicholas Trarice, left from London England early in April of 1635 and arrived safely in Boston Massachusetts on Sunday 7 Jun 1635. Among the passengers were Isabel (Wells) Tuttell, widow of Symon Tuttell, and her 3 married sons, making up an extended family of 17 Tuttells. Also aboard were 3 Lawrence children from the first marriage of Joan (Antrobus) Tuttell, and Joan's mother Joan (Arnold) Antrobus.
