Edwin C. Kersey went Home to the Lord on February 17, 2008. He was born January 4, 1923, in Bee Branch, Arkansas. He was the first born child to his now deceased parents, Ellis Thurman Kersey and Edith Scott Kersey.

He has one sister, Ruth Kersey King.

On May 16, 1942, he married his life-long love, Jerita Fleming. He has three sons, Edwin, Jr. and wife Diana of Broken Arrow, OK, Rick and wife Sharon of Texarkana, TX, and Joe and wife Susan of Charles Town, WV. He also has 9 grandchildren (Kristan, Matthew, Michael, David, Laura, John, Kyle, Katherine, and Mason), and 5 great-grandchildren (Alli, Taylor, Braedon, Trevin and Kieren). He also enjoyed close relationships with his 3 sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Kersey.

As a young man, he accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized in Round Hole Creek in 1936 along side of his future bride. He was ordained as deacon of First Baptist Church in Rose Bud and a member of First Baptist Church in Conway.

He graduated from South Side High School at Bee Branch in 1942. He attended Arkansas State Teacher's College and later the University of Arkansas where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education in 1953. In 1966, he received a Master of Science degree in Special Education from the State College of Arkansas.

He served in the U. S. Army from November, 1943 thru December, 1945 and participated in the European theater from July, 1944 to July, 1945.
He was employed by National Youth Administration (NYA), Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), and Ward Body Works twice. He purchased General Mercantile Store, South Side of Bee Branch. He also worked for South Side Gin Co. and Bauxite Mining Company. He was served as instructor at Children's Colony (1961 to 1964), instructor at Arkansas Rehabilitation Services (1964), Evaluator, Counselor, and Supervisor of Teachers at the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services (1981) and monitored Special Education in 11 counties in Southwest Arkansas. He retired from the work force in 1983.

He was a lifelong member of the Conway Masonic Lodge 107.

Today we try not to be sad, as we celebrate his vibrant, beautiful life. He filled our hearts with happiness, laughter, & love. We will have those memories to treasure until we meet again in heaven.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 20, from 5 to 7 PM and funeral services will be Thursday, February 21, at 1 PM at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
