Edwin Charles Lee was the son of Edwin & Harriet Agnes Kindred Lee. He married Effie Doret Box on June 8, 1889 in Provo, Utah. They were the parents of Edwin Ray, Clifford Clark, Cora A., Charles B., Walter S., Effie Blanche, Clyde E., Claude, D. & M. Sharp Lee.
Edwin was a farmer and was a resident of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of his death. He died at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, from a coronary occlusion. He was 86 years of age.

PROVO, June 5- Edwin C. Lee, 86, 750 E. 3rd South, Salt Lake City, former rancher, contractor and farmer, state legislator, died Saturday night in Utah Valley hospital here after two-day illness. He had been visiting for a few days at the residence of a son, E. Ray Lee, Provo.
Mr. Lee was born April 27, 1863, in Springville, a son of Edwin and Larriett Lee. He was educated in Springville schools and when 16 years old went to work on railroad construction jobs, helping build the line from Springville to Schofield, Carbon county. He was engaged in railroad construction work for the next 10 years.
He married Effie D. Box June 8, 1889, in Provo. For a time they made their home in Payson where he owned and operated one of the community's first livery stables. In 1890 they moved to eastern Utah where he operated a stage line carrying mail and freight from Price to Vernal under a government contract for13 years.
During that time Mr. Lee was appointed by Gov. Heber M. Wells as one of the first commissioners for what now is Carbon county. In 1905 he was elected to a term in the state legislature. He also was a Price city commissioner.
In 1919 he sold his ranch and entered the employ of the state road commission. While with that unit he was one of the first to advocate the use of gravel as a road surfacing material and made the first test mile immediately south of Price. He aided in road building and irrigation projects in Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming.
In 1930 he entered into a partnership with his son, E. Ray Lee, and they contracted state highway construction until 1936 when he retired and moved to Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Lee would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Wednesday.
Survivors include his widow; six sons and one daughter, E. Ray Lee, Provo; Clifford C. Lee, Price; Bert C. Lee, Arcadia, Cal.; Claude E. Lee, Van Nuys, Cal.; Clyde D. Lee, Pacomia, Cal.; Sharp M. Lee, Craig, Colo.; Mrs. Blanche Taylor, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy C. Emmons, Long Beach, Cal.; Miss Hattie Lee, Salt Lake City; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday noon in the Berg mortuary under direction of Evan Hansen, bishop of Provo Twelfth ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Price city cemetery.
