She was a lifelong resident of Wayland and was a graduate of Wayland High School with the Class of 1931. She received her teaching certificate from Framingham State Teachers College in Framingham and her master’s degree in education from Boston University, 1950. She retired in 1974 after a career of 28 years as a fifth-grade teacher at the Warren, Phillips and Schofield School in Wellesley. The Lareau Prize, named for Miss Lareau, is given out to students in grade 7 at the Wellesley Middle School who demonstrate knowledge and interest in nature and environmental conservation. She never married.
