My Aunt Eileen was also my mom, Alma Gasman's, best friend. That is how my mom met my Dad, Harvey Gasman. My mom stayed over at Aunt Eileen's parents' home in Bark River and that's when my mom met my Dad. Aunt Eileen was the maid of honor for my mom's wedding (I have the picture). Aunt Eileen had a child at about the same time that my mom was pregnant with me (1944). I was born in Dec. 24, 1944 and Harold Coplan was born exactly a month later on January 24, 1944. My mom and Aunt Eileen hung around with each other and always took us (Harold and me) places - including allowing us to share the same crib when visiting each other. Harold and I grew up together going to the same schools through most of our young lives. He was the biggest kid in the class and I was the skinniest kid. They ended up living just a block away from us. They lived at 1111 11th Ave South and we lived at 1100 South 11th Street. Harold and I are still good friends and he always calls me up on my birthday to remind me that I am older than him. He will say, "So....... what does it feel like to be 40, 50, 60? It's payback to when I use to say to him when we were younger, "Respect your elders."
