About Eldoras Dovetta Bergin
Eldoras Dovetta Bergin was an 18-year-old victim of the Hartford Circus Fire, which broke out on July 6, 1944 and killed at least 167 people.
Born in Hartford, Eldoras lived in the Bakerville section of New Hartford with her parents and younger sister. She had attended the circus with her maternal relatives Katherine (Pulver) Surdam and Katherine's son Clarence "Fred" Surdam; all three perished.
Eldoras was found deceased on the circus grounds on July 6, as was Katherine. Clarence was found seriously injured and died at Municipal Hospital on July 7.
