Eleanor E. McIlvaine (Hoffman) Goodlin

Eleanor E. McIlvaine (Hoffman) Goodlin, 88, of Greensburg RD9, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, in Greensburg. She was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late Samuel Marshall and Anna Mary Hutton McIlvaine. She was a homemaker and, prior to retirement, she had been employed as a bookkeeper by the Farm Bureau in Greensburg. She was a member of the Alwine Thimble Sisters, St. John's Harrold Reformed United Church of Christ of Hempfield Township and a member of the Women's Circle of the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Vinton Hoffman, in 1946; two sisters, Anna Eliza McIlvaine and Sara McIlvaine Lang; and a brother, John Hutton McIlvaine. She was the beloved wife of 41 years of Homer Wible Goodlin. She was the mother of William Marshall Hoffman and his wife, Sharon, and Bob Hoffman and his wife, Gerry, stepmother of Nancy Baker and her husband, Don, and Ronald Goodlin and his wife, Carol, all of Hempfield Township, Dennis Goodlin and his wife, Regina, of California and Darrell Goodlin and his wife, Alice, of Altoona. She was the grandmother of Doug Hoffman and his wife, Kathy, Marsha Sebastian and her husband, Andy, Janet Hoffman, Vinton Hoffman and his wife, Terri, Todd Hoffman, Russ Whetzel and his wife, Elizabeth, of New Jersey, and Debbie Neal and her husband, Dan, of Italy; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Anna Lou McIlvaine, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Goodlin's family will receive friends at the BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Paul Westcoat will officiate a service in the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. Interment follows at Eastview Union Cemetery, Delmont.
