COLUMBUS - Eleanor Burcham Mays, 87, of Columbus, formerly of Ironton, died Monday at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. The Miller native was born Jan. 2, 1917, the daughter of the late George Coleman and Jesse Varnum Burcham. She was the wife of the late Oliver Mays.

She was a former employee of Lazarus Department Store and retired from the City of Columbus Division of Water.

She also was preceded in death by her first husband, George Rust; one granddaughter, Lisa Mays; two sisters, Georgia Lee and Margery Little; and two brothers, Andrew Burcham and Noel Burcham.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Larry Hall and Saundra and John Schaub, all of Columbus; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Jan Mays of Colorado; eight grandchildren, Alicia Schaub, Michelle Lane, John Patrick Schaub, Hollie Schaub, Ron Mays Jr., Chris Mays, Teresa Mays and Laura Mays; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Medley and Joshua Schaub; three brothers, Vincent Burcham of Arcadia, Calif., Victor Burcham of Gasquet, Calif., and Jonbill Burcham and wife, Maxine, of Haverhill; best friend and sister-in-law, Ruth Burcham of Ironton; and many beloved nieces and nephews and good friends.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
