Information about Eleanor is scanty and contradictory. She was an only child; she had a sister; she had a brother; she had both; her mother was Margaret Morville; her mother was Aline unknown; etc.
It is definite, though, that her father was the fifth and last William Washington to possess Washington Old Hall, near the Durham/Northumberland border. Eleanor brought it to her husband, Sir William Tempest, and their daughter Dionysia brought it into the Yorkshire Mallory family.
