Revolutionary War Military Service.:

"...I Eleazar Clark of Gloucester, in the county of Providence, in the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, a revolutionary pensioner of the United States, being in the eighty first year of my age, and being solemnly engaged according to the law, do testify and say, That in the month of May 1775 I enlisted into Capt. Jeremiah Olney's company in Col. Daniel Hitchcock's regiment of Rhode Island state troops and served eight months in said company and Nehemiah Field of Cranston was Ensign. We marched from Providence to Jamaica Plains in Roxbury in the neighborhood of Boston Massachusettes and remained there until a short time after the battle of Bunker Hill when we marched to Prospect Hill, and there remained until we were discharged on the last of December or the first of January..."

"...I Eleazar Clark aforsaid do not know when I was born from any Records - As I have never had any - but I have always understood that I was born in 1756 I was born in Gloucester - Thence removed to Cranston at 7 years of age - Thence to Providence for six months - Thence to Cranston where I was when I enlisted - After the war I went to Gloucester when I have lived ever since.

I listed for Eight months in May 1775 in Jeremiah Olney's Company and Col Hitchcock's regiment and did actual service during the whole time - I joined the company from Providence - from thence I was marched to Jamaica Plains and staid there until about the first of July - Thence I was marched to Prospect Hill - and staid there until the last of Dec when my enlistment expired.

After this - immediately after, I enlisted for one year in the same company under the same Captain and Colonel - and after remaining at Prospect Hill till the last of March 1776 I was marched to New York - I stayed a few days at Providence - A few days at Norwith - a few days at New London and took shipping and went to New York - and stayed in New York three weeks, I then went to Long Island and was in the Fort during the engagement.

Then we retreated into New York - and after staying there a week or ten days I went to Haarlem - and after a stay of about a fortnight there, I went to Haarlem Heights thence I went into Jersey, among the sick - and was there about 3 weeks - Upon recovering, I went to a place called English Neighborhood- and then stayed till the first of January - at which time my enlistment expired. I served one month at Peekskill guarding Prisoners - and provisions - and floating wood across North River - This ended my enlisted service - making in all twenty one months

In June '77 I was drafted to go to Warwick under Capt. Frederick Williams of Cranston and stayed about 16 days - In the same year I was drafted to go to Providence under Capt. Keene and stayed about 16 days -

In 1778 I went as a substitute for Sion Arnold of warwick, under Capt Lippot..."
