Marriage: 20 December 1764 Barkhamsted, Litchfield, Connecticut, British Colonial America to Hannah Crofut (Crowfoot).

He was the son of Lt. David H. Holcomb/Holcombe, and Mabel-Mehitabel/Mehitable Buttles/Buttolph. He served as a Private in Capt. John Parker's Co. from New Ipswich, Hillsboro Co., N.H.; enlisted May 20, 1775 and served as Corporal in Capt. Issac Colton's Co., Col. David Brewer's Regt. and as Capt. in Putnam's 9th Co. of Brewer's Regt., for which service he was awarded a "bounty coat". He married Hannah Crofout on March 10, 1764 in Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co, Connecticut. They had 9 children. (See Hannah Crofout) He was among the first settlers at Ulster, Bradford Co. ,PA. in 1793. He erected a saw-mill on Cash Creek, which supplied the lumber for the first plank houses in a large section of the country. His sawmill and corn-mill were in operation about 1795. They lived in the Ulster, Bradford Co, PA/Salmon Brook, Granby, Hartford Co.,CT/Danbury, CT areas.

History and geography of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, 1615-1924 Chapter XVIII. Ulster Township Page 212 Eli Holcomb, a native of Granby, Connecticut, emigrated with his family to Ulster Township, 1793, settling on Cash Creek. In or before 1795, he erected a corn-mill and saw-mil, the later supplying the lumber for the first plank houses in a large section of the country. His wife was Hannah Crofut and their children: Selah, Hannah, Alpheus, Truman, Hugh, Sterling, Jared and Cynthia. * In addition, I found Rachel, born at Barkhamsted (mother Hannah) and Jared, born at Barkhamstead (mother Hannah).

Their children were all born at Barkhamsted, Litchfield, Connecticut. These are the only children of Elijah and Hannah, who lived married, into old age. There are 2 other Elijah Holcombs living at the same time. Elijah Holcomb of Canaan Township, CT and Elijah Holcomb of Windsor, CT. PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE. They were very consistent about where they lived and all of their children are born in the same place as their parents lived. Capt. Elijah Holcomb of Barkhamsted's children were:

Selah

Eli B Holcomb

Truman H.

Hannah C.

Alury

Hugh

Sterling B.
