About Elias Madison Gibbs
For more pictures and to see the death certificate, go to the Media section.
Elias Madison Gibbs served in the War of Independence and fought for the Confederacy. He was captured and due to the deplorable conditions agreed to serve in the Union's Navy Fleet. He wrote a poem some years later describing his "adventures" during the war. He listed dates, places and key names. Unfortunately this poem is not available to me.
Find A Grave Memorial #17368528. His grsve marker is inscribed "Elias M. Gibbs, North Carolina Landsman U.S. Navy" along with his date of death.
