1850 Census lived in Doddridge County with his wife Permelia Marsh Swiger and children, Martha, Elijah, Eve, Elias and Maria.
His will was written in Harrison County WV (then VA) on April 26, 1856; probated on October 6, 1856. This will lists his five youngest children.
The following excerpt is from Hardesty’s 1883 History of DODDRIDGE COUNTY, under McCLELLAN DISTRICT:
"The first grist mill was erected in 1829 by Elias Swiger; it was located three and one-half miles below Center Point, on the farm now owned by John Yeater. It was a water mill with one run of stone, cut from Copeland’s quarry, six miles above Clarksburg."
