About Eliche Goldschmidt-Hameln - Guggenheim

This is why it is my belief that Michael Goldschmidt-Hameln HO 3053 is the son of Elle bt David Halberstadt: Michael is shown by Ettlinger to be the son of a possible first wife of Moses: Eva/Chavale. But it is extremely likely that she did not exist. On one secular record, the house list for the Wanne, Moses’s wife is called “Eva”. That this is an error for Ella is borne out by the fact that “Eva” is said to have moved to the Rost after Moses’s death, Well, this was Elle (her second marriage was to Josef Guggenheim of the Rost) and the Rost house list has her name correctly as “Ela”. To add to the confusion, because Ettlinger was watching for an Eva/Chawa to be Moses’s wife, he was happy to find the notation in the Beerdigungsbuch entry for Rifke Ursel (=1 IX 1752 HO 2751) that Rifke was buried “next to Hewwele e’ Moshe Hamel”. But this Chawa/Hewwele is HO 2734 and is the wife of the Moses who died 6 VI 1771 (HO 3418). She had died 20 Jan 1752 and is buried in grave number 3468, and Rifke is in 3467.
