Eliphalet Hatch

Eliphalet Hatch was born Jan 8, 1745 in Lebanon, Conn, Left an orphan at age 15, he was apprenticed to the Blacksmith trade, and worked at the trade for the rest of his life, He was said to possess uncommon mental and physical strength and a kind, aniable disposition, loved by all that knew him.

On Jan 23, 1767 he was married, at Guilford, Conn to Rebecca Chittenden, who was born Oct 2, 1744. They resided at Norfolk, Conn, and bought land there on May 6,1772 and in 1777. Then in 1785 they moved to South Huntington, Mass, and from there to Southampton, where he died August 31, 1837 in his 93rd year, Rebecca died in the same place on Sept 11, 1838.

Children were; Moses, Lucretia,Myranda,Eliphalet b. 1775 & died at 2 years of age), Aseneth, Rebecca, Eliphalet again b. 9 27,1779, and Anna.

Rebecca's father William Chittenden was born in 1706 in Guilford,Conn where he also died Jan 14 1786. His wife Rachel White was born Feb 3. 1705 in Middletown(Middlesex) Conn and died Oct 15,1752 at Guilford. They were married April 16, 1729.
