About Elisabeth van Gent van Aalst
Curator (dvb) Note: there is some confusion regarding the number of husbands of the unknown daughter of BOUDEWIJN van Gent (-23/24 Apr 1082) whom we have called Elizabeth. Some sites give her a second name, Ida de Ath and marries her secondly to Rasse II ou V dit Nassau de GAVRE. However, E. Pattou identifies the wife of Rasse II (see Rasse II (1088) van Gavere, 1st Hereditary Bottler of Flanders in 1127) as Ide du Roeulx, dame d’Ath, (fille de Wauthier et d’Ade de Roucy ; soeur cadette de Béatrix, épouse d’Arnould de Hainaut, fils de Baudouin II dit «de Jérusalem») (see Eve dit “Damison” van Chièvres, héritière de Chièvre, dame du Sart). So it appears the name is being confounded to Ida de Ath. Whether or not Elizabeth de Gand married Rasse II is unknown. It does appear that the families may have been acquainted as there is a note that suggests that Rasse II was a crusader companion of Elizabeth’s uncle, Gilbert de Gand

[daughter . The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium names "Inglebertum…de Petinghem" as brother of "Balduinus cognomento Grossus sive Magnus"[941]. It is possible that the relationship was through Engelbert’s wife.
m ENGELBERT [IV] van Peteghem, son of --- (-after 1135).]
