Eliza Jarvis

Alfred Jarvis was born at Sorell Creek on 18th September 1832. On 22nd Ju ly 1859, in Brighton he married Eliza Gunyon (daughter of James Charles Gunyon and Sophia Robinson) born 30th November 1837 in Hobart.

Alfred and Eliza lived at "Fairfields", Tea Tree. William Jarvis purchased this 870 acre property in 1850 for £1,400. The name has since been changed to "Wandarri".

Alfred and Eliza had ten children:

(i) Susannah Sophia Jarvis born 2nd June 1860, died 3rd May 1919.

(ii) Mary Jane Jarvis born 20th February 1962, died 19th November 1941.

(iii) Emma Harriett Jarvis born 23rd July 1864, died 27th February 1941.

(iv) George Jarvis born 19th September 1866 died 30th October 1940.

(v) Albert Arthur Jarvis born 4th April 1869 married Kate Esther Lane, born 7th February 1883 at Hamilton (daughter of Thomas Lane and Ellen Mary R ichards) Albert, who was always known as Arthur, died in 1957.

(vi) Edwin Jarvis born .6th July 1871 married 1911 Elizabeth Mary Duggan born 25th March 1885 at Richmond (daughter of Jeremiah Xavier Duggan and Elizabeth Mary Daniels) died 12th July 1948. Edwin died 21st February 1 952.

(vii) Alice Maud Jarvis born 6th July 1874, married her cousin, Roland George Albert Cockerill, born 12th September 1867 at Back River (son of Elizabeth Jarvis and Henry William Cockerill) died 12th September 1954. Alice died in 1960.

(viii) Florence Jarvis born 15th October 1876, died 15th June 1893.

(ix) Adeline Jarvis born 17th September 1878 married 27th September 1906 Michael Joseph Munnings. Adeline died 11th July 1957.

(x) Tasman Jarvis born 12th May 1881 married 18th October 1906 Violet Emma Miller Thorne born 20th July 1883 at New Norfolk (daughter of Edward Sydney Thorne and Jane McKercher). Tasman enlisted in the 12th Battalion to serve in World War 1, he died at Gallipoli on 25th April 1915.

Alfred died at Tea Tree 5th December 1907, Eliza died 19th August 1916, they are buried in the cemetery of St Lukes at Richmond.
