About Eliza Coutts Moodie
Eliza (Ella) and Marion (May) were educated at Gympie Central Girls School.. In 1918, the sisters and their parents moved to their brother's farm Restal Rig at Cloyna. Neither married.
Ella helped care for her parents. Her mother was blind from glaucoma.
In 1934, she and May took over Portion 32, Parish of Wooroon from leasee Arthur John McConnell. The farm was bounded on one side by Barambah Creek which allowed for irrigation. Lucerne and onions were grown.
She and May moved to Douglas Street, Murgon in their later years. She was a great cook who learned cake icing and decorated many a wedding cake.
After a major health problem, she moved to a cottage at JB Heaps Home for the Aged in Bundaberg. She died in 1978 and is buried at Murgon.
