About Eliza Williams
Eliza Lanthois
Mrs. Charles Williams, who died at Fourth avenue, St. Peters on October 7, was a well-known colonist, having arrived in the State with her late husband in 1856. She was born in London in 1823, and came from an old Huguenot family. Like her late husband, who for many years was engaged in the printing trade, and who was one of the foundation members of the Adelaide Democratic Club, she took a keen interest in political matters. Mr. Williams was well informed on old-time theatrical events, and wrote many interesting articles to The Register. Deceased has left one son, who resides in Western Australia, and four daughters—Mrs. C. H. Franklin, of Kensington Gardens ; Mrs. Alfred Vaughan, Osmond terrace, Norwood ; Mrs. David Shearer, of Mannum ; and Miss Emily Williams, of St. Peters. Mrs. A. T. H. Angel, of Coke street, Norwood, is a niece. Fifteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren survive. Mr. George Lanthois, of Goodwood, is a brother. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Unitarian Church, and the services at the crematorium were conducted by the Rev. T. Harris.
