About Elizabeth Ann Seaman (Hurd)
Very difficult to find the parents of Elizabeth Ann Hurd. I can't find records of siblings for her either.
One of her daughters' death records states that she was born in Wallace however I'm not one hundred per cent convinced this is the case.
There were a Benjamin and William Hurd in Wallace as early as 1827, Benjamin with 5 males and 2 females and William with 2 males and 2 females in each family.
There is a Jonathan Hurd buried in Wallace born 1759 died 1819, might be the father of Ben and William.
Thomas W Hurd originally from Digby (son of Jonathan Hurd) married a Zuriah Potter and after she died he married Mary Jane Morgan in 1841 and they eventually made their way up to Wallace, he and some of his sons were blacksmiths. They are in the Wallace census in 1871, Thomas is 66 years old which makes him the right age to be Elizabeth's father. Possible that Thomas and Zeruiah are her parents but I can't find any births for her around Annapolis (where they lived in the 1830's) They are baptist as well (Elizabeth belonged to the First baptist church in Amherst her death is listed in the Reflector in the March 1899 issue, a church based magazine)
Most of the Hurds I have encountered have hailed from Digby, Wallace of Halifax and they were not extremely numerous although there were some up in Fredericton.
May never be able to solve this one!
