On 1 May 1791, four of Jacob's daughters: Lizabeth, Susan, Katherine and Christena were attacked by two Indians and a white renegade named Spicer. Three of the sisters were tomahawked and scalped. Christena escaped but carried the mark of a tomahawk on her neck for the rest of her life.
