About Elizabeth Benjamin

Not the wife of George Havens, Sr

Source: http://www.sweezey.com/genealogy/getperson.php?personID=I13748&tree=

Something is not right about Elizabeth's birth date. Her children were born too late in her life. Either her birth date is wrong, or Richard must have married a second time, and the children belong to his second wife. It is also possible that son Richard married an Elizabeth, and these children belong to him. One source gives her date of death as 9 Feb 1707/1708.

From Geneanet states: This should clear up any confusion about DOB.

Elizabeth Terry Born 2 April 1666 - Southold, Suffolk Co., NY Deceased (4 FEB 1704/05) - Long Island, Suffolk Co., NY

Parents

	 Richard Terry 1618-1676
	 Abigail Lines 1622-1686

Death recorded in the Salmon Records. Does not give a date, but follows 23 Feb 1707 death of Capt Jonathan Horton. May have died on the same day, or just in the same month.

Here is the Salmon Record info:

pg. 9

1707 Feb Rich(d) Benjamins wife Elesa(th)

Apr 6 James Benjamin

This is where the 1707 death date comes from, but I do not know if the above is for this Richard Benjamin's wife. There seems to be a number of problems with Richard's wife. It is possible that Richard's second wife was also named Elizabeth, which could explain some of the problems I see. It is also possible that the Richard Benjamin mentioned in Salmon's is really son Richard, who would have been 26 years old in 1707 and could have had a wife named Elizabeth who died young.
