Elizabeth was born in 31 May 1830 in Crowle, Lincolnshire, England.She is the daughter of William Oades and Elizabeth Sowersby. She was christened on 31 May 1830 in Crowle, Lincolnshire, England.
Betsy immigrated to the United States in 1848. Mrs. Player came to Utah with the company of Mormons driven out of Kanesville, Ohio, and arrived in Salt Lake valley October 7, 1852, after a difficult journey over the plains by ox team. Born in Cruit, (should be Crowle) Lancashire, England, September 19, 1829, Mrs. Player became converted to the Mormon faith several years prior to her journey to America.

Betsy Oades Robbins married Charles Warner Player on 7 Mar 1850 in Pottawattamie, Council Bluffs, Iowa Their marriage was considered an Early American Marriage in Iowa in 1850.
When Betsey Oades Player died on 27 Oct 1912 in Salt Lake City her parents were recorded as Wm Oades and Elizabeth Sonzby and her birth date 19 Sep 1829. We have however documentation that her birthday was in 1830.A General Debility was listed as the cause of her death. She had been seriously ill about three weeks before her passing.She is buried at Salt Lake City Cemetery; Salt Lake City, Utah; plot location: K-5-7-2-E.
At the time of her death she was survived by ten (10) children, forty-one (41) grandchildren and thirty-one (31) great grand-children.
"Three of Betsey's possessions are in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum--a white crochet edged apron, a serving dish, and a jabot (a woman's fancy neck piece)."

“PIONEER PASSES AWAY: GENERAL DEBILITY CAUSE - Mrs. Betsy Player Succumbs to Effects of Infirmities of Old Age. MRS. BETSY OADES PLAYER.
Survived by ten children, forty-one grandchildren and thirty-one great grand-children, Mrs. Betsy Oades Player 83 years old, widow of the late Charles W. Player and pioneer of 1852, died at 11:05 o’clock Sunday night at her residence, 726 West Secknd North street. The cause of death was general debility. She had been seriously ill about three weeks.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock this afternoon at the chapel of the Twenty-eighth Ward, Third North Street, between Sixth West and Seventh West streets. Bishop William McMillan will officiate. Interment will be in the City cemetery.
