Disputed Origins

There is no documentation that Hatch was the _maiden_ surname of the wife of James Cudworth III. Though her surname at the time of marriage was evidently Hatch, it was likely the surname of a first husband.

The parents of Bethia(h) Hatch -- who married not James Cudworth, but Michael Ford/Foord (1635-1729), at Marshfield in 1683 -- are Walter and Elizabeth (Holbrook) Hatch, not Jeremiah and Mary (Hewes) Hatch as previously shown in this profile [see: 31 March 1661 as birth date for Bethia Hatch; Massachusetts: Vital Records, 1621-1850 (Online Database: AmericanAncestors.org, New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2001-2016); https://www.americanancestors.org/DB190/i/7798/171/141405056 (subscription required)]. And the Elizabeth Hatch who was indeed a daughter of Jeremiah and Mary (Hewes) Hatch was born in 1668, not 1661; and she too is recorded as having married a different husband -- Israel Hatch (1667-1740) -- in 1699.

The maiden surname, parentage, and probable first husband of the "[Betty Hatch]" who is shown as marrying James Cudworth are yet to be discovered. The parents originally shown, Jeremiah and Mary (Hewes) Hatch, have been detached.
