Two years ago I obtained some papers from Bill Knotts of Virginia. He has some unpublished work of W. G. Beeghly that he got from a descendant named Eli H. Bowman of Holmes Co., OH. There are some typed copies with names added in pencil. It is laid out much like W. G. Beeghly's other books. These papers appear to be an outline for a book on the descendants of Jacob Beeghly and Mary (Polly) Hendricks, although the copies I have are only for his daughter Elizabeth, so perhaps that is the only line W. G. intended to cover in this manuscript since his other books are about that size. Jacob Beeghly is number 2 in the manuscript, his daughter Elizabeth is number 3, married to John Bowman who was born October 20, 1781. Their son Daniel Bowman (b March 14, 1811 near Summit Mills, PA, d January 8, 1893 at Post Oak, TX) is number 126. It shows that Daniel married first to Magdalena Boger (b April 8, 1813 near Brandonville, WV, d July 18, 1851), a daughter of Bishop John Boger and Barbara Breneisen. Daniel Bowman married second (November 10, 1853) to Catherine Howell (b January 12, 1818, d February 14, 1887). Daniel and Magdalena's daughter Magdalene is number 504. Someone, possibly Bill Knotts, has penciled in Lonie in front of Magdalene. Bill's computer generated descendancy chart for Elizabeth Barbara (Barbary) Beeghly (Beakly) lists Magdalene as Lonie Magdalene Bowman.

There is no index and I have only put John Bowman and Elizabeth Beeghly's children into my database so far, plus David, Daniel and Elizabeth's spouses, Margaret, Magdalene and Jacob Boger. Margaret Boger was a daughter of John Boger and Veronica "Fanny" Cober. Margaret was a half sister to Jacob Boger and Magdalena, children of John Boger and Barbara Breneisen. At the time I got the papers I was still researching the descendants of Michael Meyers and his wife Maria Beeghly, my ancestors. Maria Beeghly was a sister of your Jacob Beeghly (father of Elizabeth Beeghly).

I show that Barbara Breneisen was a daughter of Jacob Breneisen and Elizabeth Livengood. I got this information from a post to the Brethren list by Elaine Conover back in February 1999. The subject of her post was Bishop John Bogar. Elizabeth Livengood was a daughter of Elder Peter Leibundgut and Barbara Nafziger according to "Amish and Amish Mennonite Genealogies" by Hugh F. Gingerich, page 233. Peter Leibundgut is one of my ancestors also.

Several years ago I made a list of the various Beeghly spellings that people have found. I have not done enough research to confirm all of these, but thought other people might be interested in this list.
