Elizabeth _______ married Joseph Underwood by 1673 at Reading or Watertown, Massachusetts. She married second, William Bull, in 1693.[1][2]
Elizabeth died after September 9, 1695, when she and her second husband, William Bull sold land near Pigsgosuck Hill (aka Pigsgusset, later known as Watertown) to Jonas Bond for £24 sterling.[3]
Common Errors
Elizabeth, wife to Joseph Underwood and William Bull, is sometimes incorrectly identified as Elizabeth Bond, daughter of William Bond and Sarah Biscoe. She has been shown to have married Nathaniel Barsham, and died without issue. (See profile of Elizabeth Bond for more information)
Both the Underwood Families of America and the Watertown Genealogies book identify Elizabeth the wife of William Bull, as Elizabeth, the daughter of Joseph Underwood and Mary Wilder, rather than their son Joseph's widow. This is disproven in a deed May 15, 1719 where William Bull and wife Elizabeth deed land to their grandson, John Phipps in exchange for helping them in their old age. John Phipps would be Elizabeth's grandson through her first marriage (through daughter Mary Underwood Phipps). (Middlesex Deeds, Book 34, page 384).[4]
Research notes
William Bull's first wife, Abiah Perry was also from Watertown. Abiah did have a sister Elizabeth. Research needed to determine if there are additional records for her Cole-12288 17:44, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
"Bond" name may have come from Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown which mentions a land sale by William Bull and wife Elizabeth to Jonas Bond.

It has been suggested by some researchers and perpetuated by others that the wife of Joseph Underwood was Elizabeth Bond. This is an error. To my knowledge the surname of Elizabeth has yet to be found. An entry related to the Underwood family in James Savage's Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England reads; " Joseph, Watertown, s. of the preced. by wife Eliz. had....His wid. Eliz. Bond says, tho. he had not ment. 3rd w. having admin..." Savage uses lots of abbreviations, and leaves out words. This entry should be interpreted, "Joseph's widow was Elizabeth according to Bond," Bond being the source used to obtain the information presented on the Underwood family and NOT the surname of Elizabeth. Savage's "Bond" was in fact the author of the The History of Watertown.
