9 May 1514: Special retour in favour of John Somervell as heir to his father, Sir John Somervell of Cambusnethane, in the barony of Cambusnethane and lands of the town and territory of Carnwith etc. in the barony thereof, both in the sheriffdom of Lanark, and part of the lands of Gilmertoun in the sheriffdom of Edinburgh, under reservation of liferent of the barony of Cambusnethane to Marion Ballie, relict of John, Lord Somervell. ANDREE SIBBALD prebendario ecclesie de Carnueth, heredibus ejus et assignatis, - terras de Gilmertoun extenden. ad valorem 20 mercarum annuatim, 40 solidatas terrarum de Gutteris, et 10 libratas de Drum, vic. Edinburgh ; - que fuerunt Johannis Somervale de Camnethane, de rege tente per servitium warde; et (bonis mobilibus per Joh. Dalmaboy serjandum dicti vic. quesitis et nou inventis),14 Mar.1515 appreciate fuerunt et M. Jacobo Symsone procuratori dicti And. vendite pro 447 libris 8 sol. 8 den. super dictum Joh. S. obtentis, necnon pro 22 lib. 7 sol pro feodo Jacobi Logane et M. Hugonis Gifferd, vicecomitum deputatorum de Edinburgh, - viz. Gilmertoun et Gutteris ad 560 merc, et Drum ad 211 merc. 12 sol et non ultra (ex eo quod ELIZ.
