Elizabeth Taylor was born in Yarmouth, Massachusetts in 1655. She was the daughter of Richard Taylor, tailor, and his wife, Mary Whelden, of Yarmouth. She married in Barnstable, December 20, 1680, Samuel Cobb, son of Henry Cobb and Sarah Hinckley of Barnstable. They had ten children, all born in Barnstable. Elizabeth died in Barnstable on May 4, 1721, and is buried in Cobb's Hill Cemetery in Barnstable. Samuel died in 1727. Two of their daughters married grandsons of Richard Taylor "of the Rock", the other Richard Taylor of Yarmouth.
