Charles was a farmer. He could not read and write. He owned land, and listed the value of his real estate as 1500.00 in 1850.

Charles drowned in the waters of Hunter Fork when his mill was washed away in a flood

His death is mentioned twice in the book "The History Of Barbour County, West Virginia: From Its Earliest Exploration And Settlement To The Present Time" by Hu Maxwell.
