About Elizabeth Felch

Biography

https://jfredpeterson.com/tree/g12wybo.htm#A1

THOMAS WYBORN, of Wrotham, Kent, England, was the seventh and youngest child of RICHARD of Wrotham. RICHARD was son of RICHARD of Wrotham, who was son of RICHARD of Shoreham, who in turn was son of THOMAS of Shoreham. THOMAS was baptised June 5, 1580. He married first Emma Millow, Nov. 27, 1605.

He married ELIZABETH in Tenterden, Kent, England, where he seems to have settled. He was a "saddler" there before leaving for America. In 1638, he came to this country, and remained in Plymouth, Plymouth, MA. But, in 1643 he is on the list of those "able to bear arms" at Scituate, Plymouth, MA, where he was still living four years later.

In 1648, THOMAS WYBORN bought a house on High Street in Boston. In the city he appears to have been rather prominent. He was Commissioner of the Highways and Constable, meanwhile pursuing his trade of saddler. He had money to loan, invested in some real property, and at his death in 1656, left an estate valued at nearly four hundred pounds.

ELIZABETH married second, Henry Felch, she being his second wife.

From Deane’s History of Scituate:53

Thomas Weyborn, sen, died in Boston 1656. His will gives ‘To sons Thomas and James, &c. to wife Elizabeth one half the windmaill in Boston, and 40s. per annum. To son John 40£ at 21, to daughter Elizabeth Merritt 5£, to daughter Mary 20£ at 16, and to board at expence of Thomas and James Executors.’

The following is an excerpt from James Savage's Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England. Italisized words have been edited for ease of reading.

WYBORNE, WIBORNE, WEYBORNE, WIBURN or WYBURN, JAMES, (of) Boston, died 7 Mar. 1659. Says Farmer; "but of him I know nothing, but that he was son of the first Thomas, named in his will, and probably unmarried."

THOMAS (of) Scituate, had come in the Castle, 1638 (add to Category:Castle, sailed 1638), from Tenterden, Co. Kent, as from the will of Peter Branch in Genealogical Register II. 183, is presumed It seems, to be that of a fellow passenger committing only children under ten years of age to the care of W.(?) who had a son, Thomas, James, Elizabeth (which also was the name of his wife) and John and Mary; removed to Boston before 1653. There (wife, Elizabeth) probably had Jonathan, who died 10 Dec. of that year, and Nathaniel, born 12 Mar. 1655; and died 2 Oct. 1656. By his will of 12 Sept. preced. pro. 28 Oct. following, we learn most of the particulars about the children and that he owned half of the windmill in Boston, which he gave to his wife and names three elder sons and two daughters beside Deborah, the infant daughter of his daughter Elizabeth, who had married (on) 3 Apr.1655 (to) John Merrick. [SIC: John Merritt] Of the will, Thomas, and James, the two eldest sons were made executors and Edward Tyng, and John Hull, his friends, were made overseers.
