Sir William Chaloner, b. 24 Mar 1587, St Olaves, Silver Street, London, created a baronet on 20 July 1620, who died (1641) unmarried at Iskenderun in Syria/Scanderoon, Turkey; Rev Edward Chaloner (1590/91– 1625), a scholar of Magdalen College, Oxford, who became chaplain in ordinary to James I and VI, and then to Charles I, died 26 Nov 1622, Oxford (31 years); Thomas Chaloner (b. 1595, d. 1660, Middleburgh, Zeeland, Holland) and James Chaloner (b. 1603, London , d. 1658, Peel Castle, Isle of Man), both of whom were strong opponents of royal government in the 1640s, and implicated in the execution of Charles I.
