Elizabeth Carter married Samuel Gann(I) in about 1726. They were early colonists in the northern neck of the Colony of Virginia. The area, Frederick County, extended from settlements on the Atlantic Coast to a vast uncharted wilderness. Only sturdy, hardy people were brave enough to venture into the interior of this land and carve out a home so far from civilization. Elizabeth and Samuel(I) had six known children, five sons and one daughter. Older sons had married and grandchildren arriving when Samuel(I) died in 1760.
1764 - 22 Mar 1764 swore statement from widow, Elizabeth Gan, that she sold to Andrew Longacre of Frederick County, Virginia, a certain tract of land lying under the North Mountain on the drains of Cedar Creek, joining the property of John Blair. wit: Adam Gan, Joseoh Longacre.
