A John Jenkins appears to have been a resident in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1644 and probably earlier. In 1648, when he was about 23 years old, he moved south down the coast to Sandwich.
Sandwich is located where the arm of Cape Cod joins Massachusetts. He married Susanna Cooke, daughter of Job Cooke, one of the prominent Quaker families in Sandwich. [no - her parents are not known - see her profile]
John was born in about 1625 and died in 1684, but, his estate remained unsettled until April 2, 1708. The estate was valued at 116 pounds. It’s difficult to translate this amount into current values, but it is safe to say that 116 pounds would be equivalent to a comfortable amount in modern terms.
The real estate was assigned to his son Zachariah, who paid 46 pounds to heirs of his brother Job, who had died, and 52 pounds to his spinster sister Elizabeth
