"Twin" BIOGRAPHY: Born in England, 1771, Arrived in Sydney with Husband John GRONO on the 'HMS BUFFALO' on 26 April 1799, with 3 small children. Little is known of Elizabeth other than that she may have been the daughter of Captain Abraham Bristow R.N. She married John Grono on 20 July 1790 at Rotherhithe in London Dock side area. The only first-hand description of Elizabeth is as a good singer with dark hair and eyes. While her husband built ships and sailed to distant New Zealand in search for Seal skins, she stayed at home in the Hawkesbury to care for their family. Her name lives on, however, Elizabeth Island in Doubtful Sound, South New Zealand, is named after her. Elizabeth died at Pitt Town on 6 July 1848 and is buried with her husband at the historic Ebenezer Church. She was 77 years old. Burial: 7 Jul 1848 Ebenezer Church, Ebenezer, NSW Australia.
