About Elizabeth Heron
Elizabeth Bonde was one of eight daughters and eight sons born to William Bonde and Agnes Alphew [according at least to Agnes' memorial inscription at All Hallows Barking by the Tower]
Elizabeth married Thomas Heron and they lived at Edgecombe [or Addiscombe] at Croydon, Surrey. In St John the Baptist Church is a memorial to their family so it can be seen from the brasses that Thomas and Elizabeth had seven daughters and four sons. Some of the brasses were stolen in 1859 but fortunately rubbings survive. The four sheilds include the arms of Heron, Bond, Pettit and Alphew. The inscription used to read "Here lyeth Thomas Heron, Esq., & Elizabeth his wife, which Thomas deceased the 18 of September Anno 1544." Elizabeth's will is dated 1558 and she leaves most of her estate to her son Thomas. Also mentioned are her son-in-law George Butler who is to be her executor. If her son Thomas dies her estate is to be divided a mong three of her daughters; Jane Browne, Mabell Butler and Elizabeth Heron. Elizabeth was buried at St John The Baptist at Croydon, Surrey on the 15th August 1558.
