About Elizabeth Holladay
FamilySearch #KLNN-NMK
Elizabeth most likely died before 1742, the date of John's will. The will does not mention his wife Elizabeth at all, but does leave land to all their children
"He is known in some records as John Marshall Holladay and Capt John Holliday instead of "the Ranger". There is a reason for this if you will study the different records etc.
"By 1702 he married, Elizabeth Brocas, She is supposley a Rawlings by some. Others refute this. Others say they don't know. but I put Brocas as it is better than nothing. Anyway most say Brocas but it has never been proven one way or another. ...."
Children of John Holladay and Elizabeth Brocas are:
- i. Elizabeth Holladay
- ii. William H. Holladay
- iii. John Holladay II
- iv. Daniel Holladay
- v. Joseph Holladay,
- vi. Benjamin Holladay
- vii. Winfred Holladay
- viii. Sarah Holladayi
- ix. Susannah Holladay.
D.Carter Holladay: "Some have written to me stating that our line goes through "John Halliday who came from England to Spotsylvania county, Virginia, in 1702, he died in 1743, married Elizabeth Brocas." R8 A3 Vol. 5. R8 A3 Vol.7. I have not found any further informaion, however, Ann Elizabeth Lewis could have married a Mr. Brocas, after the death of John Marshall Holladay."
