About Elizabeth Jantzen

In 1861 on July 26, a baby girl was born to Peter and Agatha harder of leske, Prussia. They named her Elizabeth. In the fall of that same year, the couple moved to South Russia. Both peter and Agatha were baptized in the fall of 1869. In October of 1870, Agatha died leaving 9 year old Elizabeth motherless. The only further knowledge we have of her father, Peter, is that he died on Aug 20 1892. (In Elizabeth's obituary, her husband states that Elizabeth's elderly parents and the rest of her family came to the USA with them in 1889.)

Elizabeth Harder, having lost her mother at the age of nine, was adopted by a Kasper family in Russia. Their village name was Muntau, their province was Gekaterieneslof. She was baptized by Rev. Aron Lepp on June 24, 1877. Then on November 8, 1881 at Friedensfeld, South Russia with Rev Jacob Jantz officiating, She exchanged vows with Franz F Jantzen. (This information is from notes written by Peter H Jantzen.)

Her father, Peter, lived at Walldorf. Later he moved to Russia by horse and wagon.
