Marriage

Elizabeth Kennedy, here treated, married Sir John Rattray, 11th of that Ilk On 16 April 1478, in completion of the marriage contract they had entered into, her father-in-law gave Elizabeth and her husband the twenty pound lands of Kinbauloch, together with the lands of Haltoun, both in the barony of Kinbauloch and Sheriffdom of Perth. 16 April 1478: Charter by which SILVESTRI RETTRAY DE EODEM confirms that he has given the twenty pound lands of Kinbauloch and the lands of Haltoun, both in the barony of Kinbauloch and Sheriffdom of Perth, to his son and apparent heir JOHANNI RETTRAY and his wife ELIZABETH KENNEDY, as agreed in their marriage contract. The lands in question were to be held by them in conjunct fee and liferent, and thereafter by the lawful heirs, whom failing by the nearest lawful heirs of Silvestri Rettrat de eodem. A charter of confirmation under the Great Seal of Scotland was issued to Johanni and Elizabeth on 28 May 1479. RMS: 1424-1513: 1427
