About Elizabeth M. Boggess (Dorsey)

alternate death date 3/26/1824

Birth: in Christ Church, Queen Caroline Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, British America, (alternate date/place of birth: 6 MAR 1849 in Maryland*).

Death: in Lumberport, Harrison, formerly Monongalia county, Virginia, now West Virginia, reportedly with 65 Boggess descendants.

Burial in the smaller Boggess cemetery with a double monument, where in May 1997 a DAR marker was placed for her Revolutionary war veteran husband, near Jones Run Church on Jones Run road off of Lumberport road, both on former 583 acre Boggess family farm with larger Boggess cemetery found when you continue on up Jones Run road about 1/10 of a mile, turn left down over bank onto what is known as Sawmill road, go maybe 100 ft, you could open the gate at your left and drive to top of hill where it is located. (description from Julie Glasscock Rogers, summer 2010)

She too was well aquainted with Maj Benjamin Robinson (1758-1737) and second wife Margaret (1757-1823) and their large family with several children intermarried to her Boggess children.

One of her grandsons, Samuel Boggess (1811-1888), whose 2nd wife, was Sarah Elizabeth Wood (1835VA-1918MO), both buried in restored Point Pleasant cemetery, ten miles up Tenmile creek from her burial site in the smaller Boggess cemetery nearest the church.

NOTE: 08/21/2011, Julie Glasscock Rogers:

"Cemetery is located on the smaller of the 2 of [Boggess] cemeteries. If you were to visit it, you would turn at Lumberport onto Jones Run Rd. Go just over 3 miles, on your left you will see the Jones Run Church that sits just off the road. As soon as you pass the church, maybe 100 ft. you would see this cemetery It is only about 10 ft. off road and other than the graves that I mentioned, the only other ones you would see are just old flat rocks kinda hidden in the grass throughout. If you continue on up the rd. about 1/10 of a mile, turn left down over bank onto what is known Sawmill Rd, go maybe 100 ft. You would open the gate at your left and drive to top of hill. This is the larger cem. I have not found a Caleb in either one, but this still could be possible. There are so many graves that are either not marked or you just cant make out names."
