Elizabeth Bosworth (1640 - 1708)
Elizabeth was born 24 Jul 1640 in Boston and baptized 26 Jul 1640 in the First Church.[1] She married before 22 Jan 1660/1 to John Morse.[1] John and Elizabeth had nine children together between 1660 and 1677.[2] John died in 1678,[3] and Elizabeth subsequently married Samuel Button between 10 May 1682 and 20 Dec 1688.[1]
John's will left 1/3 of his estate to Elizabeth and divided the balance between his eight then surviving children, with a double portion to his eldest son John, to be distributed when his sons reached age 21 and his daughters reached age 18 or married, whichever first occured.[4] After settling debts, the estate was valued at about £600, with most of that being real estate.[4] When one of the parcels in the estate was sold in 1688, at the foot of the deed was written, "We whose names are underwritten, the late widow and children of the within named John Morse" approved.[1] The signatories were Eliza Button, John Eustus, Elizabeth Eustus (John Morse's eldest daughter), Jonathan Dawes, Hannah Dawes (the next surviving daughter), Bryan Smith, Abigail Smith (another daughter), Ruth Morse and Bethiah Morse.[1] Presumably, both of John and Elizabeth's sons and their youngest daughter died prior to this time.
Samuel died before 4 Apr 1695;[1] Elizabeth died in Boston on 9 May 1708.[5]
