James Odell (the first) was a farmer, and was father of five children:

• Dr. James Odell
• Mary Odell (Mrs. Zebulon Wiggin)'
• Elizabeth Odell (died in prime of womanhood)
• George Odell (a physician in Greenland)
• Charlotte Odell (who was twice married, (1) to a Boyd, by whom she had one child, Charles A.; (2) Jonathan Leavitt, by whom she had one son, Joseph H. Leavitt).
