Elizabeth Oldman

Thomas Oldman on the 20th day 1st month 1687/8 married Elizabeth Sykes at Lewes, Sussex County, Delaware, Pennsylvania. The probate record, (pp. 153, 154, records the marriage as follows:

"Certificate of Marriage for Thomas Oldman and Elizabeth Sikes:

These are to certify all whome it doth or may Concern that after due publication according to the laws of this Government Thomas Oldman, Batchellor of the towne of Lewis in the County of Sussex belonging to Pennsylvania, Carpenter, took Elizabeth Sikes The daughter of James Sikes deceased, spinster of single woman in the presence of God and before us whose names are underwritten........the fourth yeare of the Reign of oure Sovereign Lord James the Second King of England and the seventh yeare of the proprietaries Government before us."
