Elizabeth Grizzie Spratt was born in 1732, in Ireland. About 1751, in Anson county, North Carolina, Elizabeth married Captain William Polk, born circa 1733, in New Hanover Precinct, North Carolina. Elizabeth and William were residing in Anson county, North Carolina (established in 1750) at the time of the American Revolutionary War.
They became parents of children, including:
Elizabeth (Spratt) Polk died October 2, 1799, in Charlotte, Mecklenburg county, North Carolina, and is buried in the Old Settlers Cemetery, in Charlotte. There is a photograph of her headstone on her Find A Grave memorial. [4]
Date and place of birth have also been erroneously reported to be 1769 at an unspecified location.
