About Elizabeth Shipley
Elizabeth McCord - She is probably the daughter of David McCord who was killed in Derry township in what is now Dauphin then Lancaster County PA in 1758. Most of the members of the family moved to Mecklenburg County KY, and it is believed that Elizabeth was one of them. She is so recorded in our family records.
Early McCord family structures are rarely well documented, particularly for female members. The best we can do is try to put those names we find in the most likely family unit. We have accurate family records on John the son of David; James the son of William of the Fort; David the son of William of the Fort and know that the Elizabeth who marries Shipley is not from one of these. She could be a daughter of John of Bedford who later settles next to Mecklenburg County in Lincoln County by 1780. She could be the daughter of Robert son of William of the Fort about whose family we know very little except that there was a John. There is an Elizabeth in David the Weavers family who is thought to have accompanied John the Shepard and her brother John to Mecklenburg County; this Elizabeth would be in her late twenties at the time of marriage. There are, of course, other McCords who could be in the Mecklenburg County area, but these are the families on whom we have definite information. A James McCord family had gone to South Carolina ten years before these records.
Elizabeth McCord who m. George Shipley. They had onlyd 3 children, so I supposed she might have died young. I don't know if she got to KY. No one that I have corresponded with knows who her parents were, some say different -Robert & James
